What is TalkBackTV?
TalkBackTV is a video re-mix platform that allows anyone to record and edit linked video commentary to video content about news, politics, business, comedy, commercials, education/documentary, lifestyle, religion, entertainment and sports. We call these linked video reactions ‘Rants,’ and play them in our unique two-screen player. Rants are viewable on TalkBackTV.com and embeddable anywhere on the web.

Start on TalkBackTV by watching some current Rants in our Browse section or choose from Staff Picks, Most Recent or Most Watched on our Homepage.
What is a Rant?
A Rant is a user-created video mashup composed of at least one video commentary and one source clip, combined to provide a fresh perspective on a current event or issue. Rants put YOU front and center by linking video responses to source clips as never before possible. Click Rant in the top navigation to start creating your own.
Do I have to Sign Up to create a ‘Rant’ and talk back to TV?
Yes. To create a Rant, you’ll need to Sign Up and Login. From there, click the ‘Rant’ tab at the top of the site to start creating your Rant.

TalkBackTV was made for engaged citizens, news junkies, sports fanatics, food critics, experts, fashion police, curmudgeons, politicos, fact checkers, pundits, microcelebrities, students, comics, satirists and, of course, bloggers, to have their say alongside today’s leading talking heads and pundits.
How do I record a video Rant on TalkBackTV?
How do I record a video Rant on TalkBackTV?
To create a Rant, you’ll need to Sign Up and Login. From there, click the ‘Rant’ tab at the top of the site to start creating your Rant.
There are three steps to creating a Rant.
Step 1: Gather Videos
Your first step in creating a Rant is to Gather Videos.
Did you watch something you want to comment on or respond to? In Step 1, you can browse ‘Source Clips’ by Genre (News, Politics etc..), Attribute (Most Watched, Staff Picks) or by entering a Search term.
Add Source Clips for commentary to your Queue, by clicking the ‘+ Add to Queue’ button: 
Every Source Clip you select will be saved under ‘Source Clips’ in My Queue. At any point you can click the ‘My Queue’ tab to review the Source Clips you have added to your Queue.
You can also preview Source Clips before adding to your Queue by clicking anywhere in the Source Clip Tile or Thumbnail.
On the Source Clip “Preview Page” you will find additional clip information, and closed captioning if available. You can also edit the clip by setting the In Point and Out Point.
After you have added Source Clips to your Queue, click ‘Step 2: Record Yourself’ to proceed.
Step 2: Record Yourself
Your second step in creating a Rant is to Record Yourself.
You can record your video responses, known as ‘Rant Clips,’ in response to the Source Clips. You have the option to capture your video response via webcam or upload pre-recorded video clips from your computer.
To capture your video response via webcam, first make sure your webcam feed is selected and allowed. To show the Options Menu, right-click (CTRL+Click for Mac) on the player screen, and select ‘Settings.’ On the Settings pop-up, select ‘Allow’. To make sure the right video feed is selected, click the webcam icon to the far right and select the appropriate webcam from the dropdown menu.
Every Rant Clip you record or upload will be saved under ‘Rant Clips’ in your Queue, If you’d like to review a Source Clip to help in your Rant Clip production, simply click ‘My Queue’ and review on the Source Clip Preview page.
When you are finished recording and/or uploading your Rant Clips, click ‘Step 3: Edit Rant’ to proceed.
Step 3: Edit Rant
In Step 3 you will arrange Source Clips and Rant Clips in the sequence you would like them to appear in your Finished ‘Rant.’ You can also edit the In Point and Out Point of any Clip at this point using the controls below each player.
In the center of the screen, will see our signature two-screen TalkBackTV Player. Above the Player you will see the sequenced Clip Timeline. At the right, you will find your my Queue Tabs, displaying Source Clips and Rant Clips.
To create your Rant, click anywhere inside a Source Clip or Rant Clip tile and drag to the Clip Timeline. Click again to drop the clip into the desired position on the Timeline. If you would like to Edit any individual clip in the Timeline and set In Point and Out Point of that clip, click on the clip to make it appear in the Player. Rant Clips will appear on the left screen and Source Clips will appear on the right screen. When you move your mouse into the Player, your tools for editing will appear.
You can watch your unfinished Rant at anytime by clicking the Preview Rant button.
When you are finished adding and editing Source Clips and Rant Clips in your Timeline, click the ‘Confirm & Preview: Enter Basic Info‘ button.
Please Note: In order to publish your Rant, it must:
• Be less than 3 minutes in length
• Contain at least one Source Clip and at least one Rant Clip
Confirm & Preview: Enter Basic Info
To Publish, add Rant Title, Rant Description, and Tags. Then select the appropriate Category from our dropdown menu.
Note: Adding a good Title, detailed Description and multiple Tags will make it easier for viewers to find your finished Rant.
When you’re finished click ‘Publish Your Rant.’
Congratulations! Your Rant is ready for the world.
How do I select Source Clips for commentary in my Rant on TalkBackTV?

What is the ‘Q’ button below the Player?
Click the Q icon below the Player to use the Q function.
The Q function lets you create your own Rant from the same Source Clips in the Rant you just watched. Click the ‘Q’ to pre-populate your Clip Timeline with the same Source Clips in the same order, then Record your own Rant Clips in response.
Do I have to record a comment or response in order to publish a Rant?
Yes. Fair Use Law permits the use of copyrighted material for commentary, criticism, parody, education etc. See our Fair Use Guidelines for more info.
